Nagpur News : PM Vishwakarma, a Central Sector Scheme, was launched on 17th September, 2023 by the Prime Minister to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools. The Scheme covers artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 trades, spanning both rural and urban areas. viz. Carpenter (Suthar/Badhai), Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith (Lohar), Hammer and Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Goldsmith (Sonar), Potter (Kumhaar), Sculptor (Moortikar, stone carver), Stone breaker, Cobbler (Charmakar)/ Shoesmith/Footwear artisan, Mason (Rajmistri), Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver, Doll & Toy Maker (Traditional), Barber (Naai), Garland maker (Malakaar), Washerman (Dhobi), Tailor (Darzi) and Fishing Net Maker.
The objective of the scheme is to give the recognition to the artisans and crafts people as vishwakarma to build their enterprises, to provide them skill up gradation, to hone their skills, support for better and modern tools, easy access to collateral free credit, incentive for digital transactions etc. This will help them access new opportunities for growth. The Scheme envisages provisioning of the various benefits to the artisans and crafts persons like Recognition, Skill Up gradation, Toolkit Incentive, Credit Support, and Incentive for Digital Transaction and Marketing Support to enhance both the caliber and accessibility of products and services originating from these skilled artisans.
To provide marketing assistance to Vishwakarma and to create more awareness about the scheme, MSME-DFO Nagpur is organizing 3-days PM Vishwakarma Exhibition/Trade Fair from 14 to 16th December, 2024 at Reshimbagh Ground, Nagpur. The exhibition will help them to access new opportunities for growth by providing them skill up gradation and marketing support. It will provide a platform for brand promotion and market linkage.
The Exhibition will be inaugurated by the hands of Shri Nitin Gadkari Hon’ble Union Minister, Road, Transport & Highways on 14th December 2024 at 11.30 AM. Hon’ble Shri Mohan Mate, MLA, Shri Vinayak Mahamuni, IAS CEO Zilla Parishad, Nagpur, Dr. V.R.Sirsath, Joint Director, Nagpur, Dr. A.A. Murkute, Director, MGIRI Wardha, Shri G.O. Bharti, Joint Director of Industries, Nagpur and several other dignitaries will grace the Inaugural function. Ms. Parineeta Pandhram, Asstt.Director, MSME-DFO Nagpur will co-ordinate the programme.
MSME-DFO, Nagpur has appealed to the vishwakarma and the people in general to visit the exhibition and take maximum benefit from the programme and people to visit the exhibition in large numbers and encourage the vishwakarma.
