Nagpur News : Financial literacy workshop for women

Nagpur News : “The country where no one could have visioned about the JAM (Jandhan, Aadhar, Mobile) trinity, the country which was mocked when anyone talked about going cashless, is the nation which has achieved world’s most real time transactions,” said Shivani Dani Wakhare, Pradesh Mahamantri of Yuga morcha while speaking on the importance of financial literacy in making India a developed nation.

Wakhare was addressing the workshop on ‘Financial literacy for women’ organised by Kalabharat organisation in partnership with Skilletz foundation on Wednesday at Centre point hotel.

She added, “Launch of UPI in India, helped in bringing the women and backward people into the mainstream, which eventually helped India surpass Britain and become the fifth largest economy.”

Recalling an incident of a European reporter in India, Wakhare said, “He used to mock the Nation for launching UPI but when he got back to his country, he realised that transactions in a developing country like India barely takes seconds which took him 24 hours in a developed European country.”

Talking about her experience working all over the world, special guest Senorita Issac, Trade Commissioner Latin America Caribbean Trade Council said, “Women are the architecture of their families. Every woman does so much to balance her personal and professional life. But now what is important is how to manage your money. Today we need to learn how to gain maximum in minimum time, along with being careful about the risks.”

“Financial literacy is knowing the strength of your money and how to manage it. Only 24 percent of the Indians are financially literate, out of which only 4 percent are literate,” said the founder of Kalabharat organisation, Usha Bajpai.

Founder of Skilletz foundation Gauri Chandrayan was also present at the event. Bajpai proposed the vote of thanks for the event.
